The interests of students today are in computers. It is important to recognize computer related technologies as a way to connect to students an to teach. A goal in our classroom will be for students to learn how to navigate and use the computer as a research and learning tool independently. In one of our units of study of the classroom pet we will research animal's habitats, food, and the daily maIntenance of potential pets on the computer or use computer in the library to find books about our animals.
I will try to keep abreast of all the latest technologies and I am sure your children will inform me of some too! Students and their parents are welcome to contact me in any way in which they feel comfortable. For your children this may mean they will be emailing me and I hope often as this will keep communication lines constantly open. We will also have a class blog in which students can rely their concerns or comments in an anonymous fashion.
Although technology can be overwhelming at times I feel that in our 21st Century I as your child's teacher can use it as a tool to engage, create and solve problems in the classroom in a meaningful way.
